Senior Trip News

Senior Trip will be May 11th-16th, and we will again travel to Disney World in Orlando, Florida! We estimated the trip to cost each student at least $1200 this year. Exact figures come later in the year as we purchase tickets, reserve rooms, and finalize all costs.

 

The money will include:

                    4-Day Disney Park Hopper Pass

                   2 Visits to Disney Water Parks

                   Lunch and dinner for 4 days

                   Hotel (4/room occupancy)

                   Transportation on a charter bus

 

If we have more students than a 50-passenger bus can hold, we will allow students to fly. Those selected to fly are responsible for paying the $1200 plus the difference between the bus seat /plane ticket and the additional hotel accommodations. All plane tickets must be purchased through the school. We are unable to accommodate airline buddy passes. To be considered for the plane, students are required to have their accounts paid in full by January. This will give you additional time to pay for a plane ticket. As students pay off their trip, we will put them on the potential fly list. We determine the number of flyers based on the total number of students participating. When we get a firm headcount, we can then determine how many students will fly.

Deposits will be made for rooms, transportation, and airfare during the first week of February. After this occurs, students will no longer be eligible for a refund. However, you could sell your trip to another senior student. It is also essential that students and parents understand that all participants must be passing all classes on the 3rd nine weeks’ report card, or if not by the last progress report. If your student is not passing all classes at that time, they will not be eligible for a refund. The refund policy is set by Disney and is out of the control of Shepherd High School. Students must meet compulsory attendance requirements, which means they cannot owe hours.

Payments are set up monthly from August through February; however, you can pay ahead. Rooms will be reserved in January, so all student accounts must be up to date at this time. If a student has not made a payment or committed to the trip by January, additions will be based on room availability only.

Balfour Graduation Information- Mrs. Gressett & Mrs. Courvelle

·         Cap & Gown and Invitation information packets will be handed out on October 16th during 3rd period. 

·         Balfour will return to pick up orders on October 23rd during both lunches. At this time, if you order less than $80 worth of merchandise, you will have to pay your balance in full. If your order is $80 or more, you need to pay the $80 deposit that is required, and then you will pay your balance at the time of pick up. Delivery is usually in March. You can also order online with a credit card at https://balfourtexas.com/. If you purchase your cap and gown from an alternate source, you must get it approved by Mrs. Gressett no later than April 1st.

Fall Senior Recognition Night-Mrs. Courvelle, Mr. Goodman, & Mrs. Harrison

·         If you are involved in a fall “Friday Night Lights Activity” such as band, cheer, drill team, trainer, manager, JROTC, or color guard. Senior Recognition Night for you will be on November 7th. Other sports and organizations will have their recognition at a time designated by their coach or sponsor.

·         Please fill out the bio information and return it to Mrs. Harrison NO LATER than October 30th.

·         Senior Pep Rally November 7th.

 Senior Pictures/Yearbooks- Ms. Saravia

·         Official School Cap & Gown pictures will be taken on January 13th. You do not need your own cap & gown for these pictures.

·         We will not have any flying information for several months. The only reason we will need to have students fly will be if we have more students going than the bus can accommodate.

Seniors, you must pass at the end of the 3rd Nine Weeks to be eligible to go on Senior Trip! Also, make sure you make up any attendance hours you may owe. See Mr. Meeker in the front office if you think you may owe attendance hours.
